This weekend is went to visit a friend in the hospital. Upon leaving I took the elevator to make my way down to the hospital garage. As i was walking the corridor to the garage a man in a wheelchair pulled out in front of me throughing off my fast paced foot stepping. I dodged out of the way and began walking next to him. I realized this poor gentleman was in a wheelchair and was going to have an issue opening the doors further down the corridor...so began to speed up my walk. I looked over and the wheelchair fellow began to speed up his catch and throw technique he was using on the old handi-man chair. So I took it up yet another notch, and again the fellow with the broken getaway sticks started pushing his rollaway chair past me. At this point, I am at a full blown strut...I blow past him and spew a "pssssttttt" sound from the side of my mouth. I get to the end of the 1/4 mile corridor and I am the victor. I burst through the doors and slam the behind me laughing and pointing through the glass at the limp legged loser. I walked away with a smile knowing that the better man won cause I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time...even when I am walking.
